Join us at our in-person location in Morris Plains, NJ this summer!Communication connects us in all realms of life. It helps to influence decisions, disseminate knowledge, and inspire change and action. Public speaking is a bedrock skill for everyone. We understand the fear of public speaking often stems from the fear of screwing up. That’s why we work hard to instill in even our youngest learners confidence to talk boldly and smoothly, adjust in the moment and even move past their mistakes. We build a judgment-free, collaborative community of peers who can cheer speakers on and give constructive feedback. Our small class sizes mean teachers and students get to know each other as individuals, and teachers can identify each individual’s students strengths and concerns in the realm of public speaking and address those issues head-on.Our teachers have a toolkit of tangible tips and tricks to offer student speakers. Some speakers get nervous when trying to make eye contact with the audience — the solution? Look at the crowd’s foreheads instead! Need to focus a crowd? Make use of a short pause or silence, which can lend a speech gravity and a serious tone.Campers will strengthen the skills to write and practice speeches, working in dialogue with their peers to develop ideas on a number of topics. Younger campers receive speech templates to aid them in the writing process, freeing them to practice presentation skills. We focus on a strong foundation that emphasizes body language, eye contact, tone, and pace. Our young orators will learn how to adapt this foundation, depending on the content of the speech, to achieve the desired effect and audience reaction.Public Speaking classes are offered from Monday through Thursday each week of our summer camp for grades Pre-K through 8. Each camp week features a self-contained, independent curriculum. Students can sign up for any combination of weeks to get the most out of our summer school courses in Morris Plains, NJ.Ready to sign up? Get more information at www.vsafuture.com/summer.
