Summer 2025 Vocabulary & Reading Comprehension
GRADES 3–9 | Virtual Classes Available
Session 1: June 30–July 25
Session 2: July 28–August 22
Mondays and Wednesdays, 7–9pm ET
Use this summer to turbo boost your child’s learning—and watch as they confidently excel in the September statewide ELA tests! VSA students report top statewide test scores due to VSA class enrichment, especially our Summer Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension class.
In Vocabulary, students build a richer range of words, as they practice using the words in the correct contexts and engage in discussions on real-world connections.
In Reading Comprehension, students use their new vocabularies in context. VSA instructors guide students through texts, teaching them how to explain the main ideas and themes, how to discern author’s intent, and how to analyze connections between texts.
Minimum of 4 students, maximum of 12 students per class.

Use Greek and Latin Roots to Learn Vocabulary
Each week, the class studies a themed word list, as students work collaboratively on exercises such as definition overviews, word webs, example sentences, analogies, matching, and fill-in-the-blanks.

Activate Critical Reading Skills with Weekly Practice
Students become close readers as they build deductive and analytical skills in unpacking author intent, story themes, and understanding vocabulary in context.

Stronger Vocabularies, Better Communication
Rich and extensive vocabularies:
- Are crucial to student comprehension in classroom settings
- Enhance student writing and speaking skills
- Are strongly linked to school success, studies show
With robust vocabularies, young students can ensure success in future academic and professional settings. Expanding vocabularies allows students to better grasp word problems in math, tackle difficult works of literature, and competently face exams, texts, and books they encounter in any academic subject and everyday life.
Help your child cultivate their communication skills today with our 2025 Summer Evening Reading Comprehension & Vocabulary virtual course!
