In Vocabulary, students build a richer range of words, as they practice using the words in the correct contexts and engage in discussions on real-world connections. In Reading Comprehension, students use their new vocabularies in context. VSA instructors guide students through texts, teaching them how to explain the main ideas and themes, how to discern author’s intent, and how to analyze connections between texts. Minimum of 4 students, maximum of 12 students per class. Use Greek and Latin Roots to Learn Vocabulary Each week, the class studies a themed word list, as students work collaboratively on exercises such as definition overviews, word webs, example sentences, analogies, matching, and fill-in-the-blanks. Activate Critical Reading Skills with Weekly Practice Students become close readers as they build deductive and analytical skills in unpacking author intent, story themes, and understanding vocabulary in context.
