By studying mentor texts of past Scholastic Writing Award winners and reading across genres, students develop a clear voice and ear for language. Each session, the VSA teacher offers concrete, skills-based explanation and practice, guiding students as they brainstorm, draft, and revise a polished essay, short story, poem, or more.Following the workshop, students develop a complete piece of writing and receive two rounds of feedback and revisions from VSA teachers. Students will build a robust body of polished essays and stories with which to submit to the 2024 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.Minimum of 4 students, maximum of 12 students per workshop.
