Students gain exposure to different writing genres, such as personal narrative, opinion and informational writing. Teachers assign students quick writing exercises along with leading students through the writing process—from developing ideas and finding focus to drafting, revising and editing, and publishing. VSA teachers engage students with fun lessons, encouraging learners to voice their ideas and opinions throughout classes. Math C-M Our C-level Math program builds upon skills developed in the first grade course, providing learners seeking tutoring with a deeper understanding of math through small-group instruction. Students explore mathematics and data topics, learning how to master base-ten notation, understand place values, and build fluency with addition, subtraction, and units of measure, among other key concepts. At VSA Future, our highly skilled instructors tutor students through the Singapore Math method, an approach that hones students’ problem-solving abilities at a highly conceptual and abstract level. Our curriculum also incorporates mental math strategies to speed up problem solving. VSA’s small student-to-teacher ratio allows instructors to provide clear feedback and guidance to ensure students understand concepts each step of the way. Classes include a short lesson, guided and independent practice, and quizzes and tests. This class meets twice weekly; each session is 1 hour. We incorporate Singapore Math principles into our curriculum to ensure even our youngest learners can draw connections between math topics to sharpen their critical and conceptual thinking. Students learn whole number relationships and place values, practice addition and subtraction, identify geometric shapes and their attributes, practice linear measurement and compare different objects, and tell and write time. They also enhance their understanding of open-ended math questions and connect reading comprehension skills with math skills throughout each lesson. Our course offers activities for students to engage their bodies as they work on correctly solving math problems and reviewing the skills they are learning in school.
