We teach students by level, not school grade, to ensure maximum growth and learning. With more than seven years of teaching experience, VSA has experimented with and refined our classes to create a model that works best for students and teachers alike.In our intimately sized academic classes, students test out their new grammar skills and solve algebraic equations from the comfort of home. Our interactive lesson platforms allow students to practice their active learning skills with in-class exercises, customized problem sets, and immediate teacher feedback. A Cohesive Curriculum In Reading & Writing, Math, Public Speaking, and more, VSA has developed a rigorous curriculum for students in grades 2–10, with over 10 class levels that build on each other. Our curriculum is designed around the Spiral Learning Method, which fosters ability by reviewing prior skills in an ongoing fashion. Students continually use and practice their previous skills and use them as building blocks for new concepts. This allows students to see how each piece is important to the whole picture. Our Growth Mindset VSA Future believes that every child has the ability to excel. We approach learning with a growth mindset: Failure is merely an opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. With regular check-ins and assessments, students see learning not as a singular achievement or goal post, but as an iterative and ongoing process. Our Teachers VSA’s dedicated, diligent teachers offer one-on-one attention through in-class feedback and teacher-student conferences, giving every student tailored learning goals and encouragement. Our extensively trained educators have each spent 5–19 years in the classroom. VSA instructors work diligently to communicate with our students, monitoring strengths and weaknesses, ensuring student attendance, and supporting student learning goals. Our Director Dr. Julia Guo A lifelong advocate for education, Dr. Julia Guo founded VSA Future in 2015 to give students of all backgrounds a welcoming learning environment.She earned her Ph.D. in Biology from New York University and did her postdoctoral training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before conducting research at Merck and the Hospital for Special Surgery for eighteen years.Dr. Guo applies her scientific background to developing data-driven, rigorous curriculum for children ages 5 to 18 in English, Math, Writing, Public Speaking, Vocabulary, and more.
