What’s in the Test Day Toolkit: VSA Future Explains When taking the SAT, feeling prepared on the test day is critical for a successful outcome. Students might feel more confident and equipped if they have all the necessary tools organized beforehand. These tools include a watch, a set of pencils, a calculator, and, especially, the right food. On the other hand, students also want to make sure they don’t bring anything to the test center, leading to cancellation.Below you will find a list of what to bring and what not to bring on test day. What should you pack for the SAT? Face Mask The whole world is still suffering from the Covid-19 Pandemic, and with significant concerns over the cancellation of various tests, remembering to pack a face mask is a must when taking the SAT.Bring a facial covering to the exam center and wear it as prescribed. Before entering the exam facility, try to maintain social distancing at all times and be prepared to answer inquiries regarding your health. Your Admission Ticket You can print your ticket from your College Board account. An admission ticket is a must-have item; you won’t be able to enter the testing venue without it. School ID or Government-Issued ID To enter the examination center, you must have an official, hard-copy photo ID; otherwise, you will be turned away. Your ID must be genuine. The photocopy or a digital image from your phone isn’t acceptable. A hard copy of your school ID, passport, or driver’s license are all acceptable forms of identification. The test proctors will compare the information on your admission ticket and ID to the test-center roster to validate your identification. If the information matches, you can take the test. In case there is some dissimilarity, you won’t be allowed to sit in the examination hall. That’s why the name on your ticket and the name on your ID must match. If you use a nickname, make sure it’s the same on both papers. Number 2 Pencils and a Soft Eraser A variety of pencils are available in the market these days, but not all are made equal. Students should bring at least two number 2 pencils to the SAT. It is also favorable to bring pencils that you have previously used in order to prevent any unpleasant surprises on test day. While some testing venues may have pencils available on the test day, there is no certainty that they will be readily available. You can pack as many pencils as you like, but at least two are mandatory. Mechanical pencils are strictly prohibited for the test. An Acceptable Calculator At least one Math section of the test will allow you to use a calculator. Scientific calculators, graphing calculators, and four-function calculators are all permitted. Contrary to that, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, and anything that can access the Internet or Wi-Fi are not allowed. Bluetooth or cellular gadgets and any calculator that requires a power source are also not permitted. A Wristwatch As the time will only be indicated at regular intervals by the test supervisors, it is better to wear a watch to keep track of your time. The watch should not have any alarms or data storage capabilities. If the alarm goes off during the exam, you will be removed from the testing hall, and your test will not be scored. Light Food & Snacks During the ten- or five-minute break, you can bring a healthy snack to eat outside the testing room. When selecting a snack, choose the one that will keep you on your toes and fresh. Avoid any snacks that make you feel heavy and sluggish. Some examples of healthy snacks include: Apple — Rich in fiber Nuts — A rich source of healthy fats and proteins Granola bars — Full of fiber and nutritious carbohydrates Extra Batteries Nothing is more frustrating than settling in for a Math Test only to discover your calculator has died. Having some additional batteries on hand is always a good idea. Water Bottle Adequate hydration is vital for your brain to function correctly. During each break, don’t forget to drink a glass of water. That will keep you fresh and hydrated. Dress in Layers While choosing a dress for the test day, keep in mind the location and weather of your testing center. With only a few exceptions, most testing locations are either too hot or too cold. Wear a t-shirt or other light top if it’s hot outside. In case it’s cold, a warm jacket becomes a necessity.
